Cap. America and Tea Baggers

Mr Klein
This afternoon I read about the flap over a recent plot line involving Captain America and a group of fictional Americans who are dissatisfied with current events not dissimilar to a real group of Americans who are dissastisfied with current events. While I understand Marvel's position as a corporation, I was disappointed that an apology was issued. Frequently members of these fringe political groups do conduct themselves in the same manner as hate groups, but under the guise (in the case of Tea Baggers) of political reform. Seeing the gains that this particular movement has made recently has me concerned about their motivations and the long term impact they may have on this country. I think this is exactly the sort of threat that Captain America should at least be allowed to investigate without having to apologize.
I will buy a copy (or several) of issue 602, bag and board them and value them as relevant discourse on current events.
Thank you for your time

accidental badass...

You may recall an earlier rant about those padded lunch box things in the work fridge (I'll link it here when I get a minute). I was cleaning my coffee press in the break room and a coworker was getting something out of the fridge. Then another came in to get their soda from the fridge and remarked at how crowded the fridge is and how hard it is to find space. I proceeded to put the blame on these stupid lunch box things and said "you know, these things run between $10 and $20- what's another dollar for a reuseable ice pack so these people can keep their thermal lunch boxes at their desk?"

Turns out the first cowoker has the biggest padded box in the fridge.  She's like "I never thought of that... but I don't know that they'd keep the food cold."  I started to twitch. What I wanted to say, but didn't, was: Then why the fuck bring a huge ass thermal box?! If they don't work then put your shit in a fucking grocery bag and leave some room for the other schlubs who are packing a lunch!

Tuition hikes...

I couldn't be happier that this is my last full semester before finishing my degree (and by "full semester" I mean "I've been taking two classes every 17 weeks for over two years now, and this is the last semester I'm enrolled in 6 or more credits).  If for no other reason than pending tution hikes. Once I do a 3 credit class this summer, I'm out of there and hopefully off to grad school... but I digress.  This made me laugh

So far a few states, like Oklahoma and Missouri, have avoided tuition increases entirely. And the Oklahoma Legislature gave its state universities no reason to complain when it fulfilled the state higher education budget request.

Of course they could meet the budget request! What do they have, a graduation class of like 6 or something? I'm sure the first and second year populations are huge, but once the allure of being a Sooner wears off (or their house gets blown away or they freeze to death from the approacing glacier) I'm sure the attrition rate is pretty high.

We'll see what happens to my wife's tuition at the University of WA as she finishes her BA over the next 15 months.
