Being Human on SyFy

I'm listening to Pandora and they're running a commercial for the upcoming SyFy series "Being Human." The commercial actually says "the SyFy Original Series" which is complete horseshit. "Being Human" has had at least three series on the BBC (possibly more because I was watching it on BBC America).

It was an enjoyable show, I suppose, but the way they played through each story arc left me a little cold. It was a cross between "we're fine leaving an open ending" and "we need to conclude this sufficeintly such that if we don't get renewed we at least told the whole story." Each arc went gracefully up to the peak, reaching high enough that it could carry into another series, but then came crashing back to earth. It was an interesting drama and I hope the American writers tighten that up a little. Maybe get Joss Whedon on board- that sumbitch can weave some story arcs.

Hanging paper...

I finally got around to making color copies of my BA and writing certificate, and I framed them last night. This morning, first thing after clocking in at work I hung them in my cubicle. I do a job that will be completely unaffected by the fact that I have this BA and cert., and it took some internal debate before I decided to bring them in. On the one hand I earned the damned things (3 years at Shoreline CC, a year at UW and 30 months at WSU) on the other I didn't want to come off as a braggart. My internal compromise was to put them in frames that were simple, understated, and classy, but not draw any other attention to them.

Already I'm surprised how much the space of my cube has changed. I feel like a big kid :) My monitor is in a corner of my cube, the documents are hung just above it and no matter where I turn during my usual workday, I can see them (at least in my periphery). I should have hung -something- in here a long time ago to change how it feels.
